Description
Red Alder Shorts are approximately 13/16″-thick x 5-1/2″ to 7-1/2″ wide x 24″ long. They are available in one, two, and three board foot quantities.
Red alder tends to be a light tan to reddish brown. The color darkens and reddens with age. There is no visible distinction between heartwood and sapwood. Large rays (stripes) appear as occasional small streaks on the face grain. Red alder is very easy to work with both hand and machine tools, and it sands especially easily since it’s relatively soft.
