Description
Purpleheart shorts are approximately 13/16″-thick x 3-1/2″ to 7-1/2″ wide x 24″ long. They are available in one, two, and three board foot quantities, and come in multiple pieces.
Purpleheart lumber is a deep and beautiful eggplant purple. With further age the wood can become darker and with a brown hue. The grain on the wood tends to be straight with some waves. Purpleheart is usually rated as being a very durable lumber and is resistant to rot and decay. It machines well as long as the tools are sharp, but burn marks can arise if it’s cut to fast. Takes a glossy, lustrous finish.
