Description
Pau Rosa is grown within African rainforests. The heartwood tends to vary in color from a pink or yellow to a darker reddish brown, with darker brown streaks common. White to pale yellow sapwood is clearly demarcated from the heartwood. Grain tends to be wavy with a medium to coarse texture and high natural luster. It is easy to work with despite its density, though cutting resistance can be high and the wood has a tendency to burn while being drilled. It planes fairly well, and it turns, glues and finishes well.
