Description
Hickory shorts are approximately 13/16″-thick x 4-1/2″ to 7-1/2″ wide x 24″ long. They are available in one, two, and three board foot quantities.
Heartwood tends to be light to medium brown, with a reddish hue; sapwood is a paler yellowish brown. Boards with contrasting heartwood and sapwood create a somewhat rustic appearance. It can be difficult to work with tear-out during machining. It’s hard and heavy, but it stains well.
